Cardio

Nope not about running or getting that proper amount of exercise. Its about my heart. I went and had an echo cardiogram the other day. It is basically ultrasound of your heart. Amazing technology, as I lay there in a dark room I watched on a screen  my heart working. Each chamber moving opening and closing, pushing the blood in and separating out the oxygen.

This amazing thing this heart of mine, was beauty in its simplicity and design yet so complex in its rhythm and motion. The four chambers give a syncopated beat, not the thump thump we are used to hearing when we lay our head against another chest but the actual four chambers working in their own well timed pace.
An electrical spark can stop it, another can start it. I was simply blown away by this most amazing piece of anatomy.

To see it I felt closer to what is actually going on inside me. To watch this complex system at work, I feel a renewed sense of optimism that I want to take care of this precious thing, this heart.
I also found much to my surprise that it was not shattered in a thousand pieces, that it was not broken in two by love, but actually whole and much to my relief a very healthy heart.

Hockey Ramble

So I watched my hockey team play their hearts out last night. Colorado Avalanche in case you're wondering.
They had 36 shots on goal and dominated the 2nd and 3rd periods. A fantastic Goal by Duchene 1:38 left in the game tied it. 28 seconds into over time a fluke chip and the fucking Canucks win it. Av's did come away with a point but still the Canucks....blah blah blah ya ya they are Canadienne.. so what, just barely hanging on to Canada by a thread on its west coast. Vancouver is the LA of Canada.

And whats with all these cities that have never seen snow in their entire existence having hockey teams???? Florida... Arizona.. why not just have hockey in the bloody Brazilian Rain Forest.  I'm thinking if you don't get snow, you don't get hockey. But of course, its slowly but surely being turned into the same elitist bullshit that is now football.

In 20 years, the sport will be unrecognisable as any multi millionaire or corporation with money to burn, will buy a team up and California will have a hockey team for every major city just like football. New Orleans will have the Peppers, and San Diego will have the Waves... I think I'm going to be sick
